
WEST BEACH BOAT PERMITS FOR
OUTRIGGERS, SAILBOATS AND ROWING DORIES
This quiet-water area keeps small, non-motorized craft a safe distance from the federal navigation channel, where everything from whale-watching charter boats to fishing trawlers enter and exit the harbor. Easily accessible and family-friendly, West Beach is the perfect place for summer boating fun. The Waterfront offers a limited number of permits that get your outrigger, sailboat or rowing dory on the beach and ready to go. WEST BEACH BOAT PERMIT SEASON
Year-round
No Permit is valid unless the following steps have been taken:
1. Permit application is processed through the Harbor Patrol Office;
2. Permit sticker is properly displayed on the vessel; and
3. Vessel has current California registration numbers, if required.
Permit Fees:
Single vessel permit: $250.00 per year – Outrigger, sailboat or rowing dory.
Fifty (50) permits are available. Permits are sold annually beginning the first Friday of March.
Rack permit: $400.00 per year –Each rack may hold a maximum of six, single-person human powered vessels.
Four (4) rack permits are available. Permits are sold annually beginning the first Friday of March.

Size Restrictions:
Outriggers and rowing dories shall be no longer than forty-five (45) feet in length nor wider than seven (7) feet.
Sailboats shall be no longer than sixteen (16) feet overall nor wider than six (6) feet.
Other Restrictions:
No commercial activities allowed.
Permits are non-transferable.
